A Trip Down Memory Lane
Jan 23, 2026
Three years ago, I made a decision that would change my life.
I started a YouTube channel called SlideSkills. There was no brand, no business plan, no clear direction. Just a simple idea: share PowerPoint tips that actually help people.
It was a faceless project: screen recordings and voice-overs. No camera, no personal story. Just PowerPoint tutorials and practical advice.
I created the content I wished existed when I was learning. Straightforward, visual, immediately useful.
The Unexpected Growth
People started watching. Subscriptions grew. Views added up.
Today, the channel has nearly 500,000 subscribers, over 50 million views, and more than 300 videos published.
That growth still feels surreal.
I built all of this while working a full-time job throughout 2023 and 2024. Evenings and weekends. What started as a side project slowly became something real.
Eventually, the balance shifted. I made the leap: going full-time self-employed to fully commit to this work. That decision changed everything: the pace, the focus, the ambition.
The Evolution
The content evolved with me.
Early videos focused on tips, tricks, and creative PowerPoint ideas. Over time, my focus shifted toward professional slide design, strong templates, and presentation fundamentals that actually matter in business.
For a long time, I stayed anonymous. But in January 2024, that stopped making sense.
I decided to show my face and turn the channel into a personal brand, not to chase visibility, but to build trust and connection. Especially in an age where AI can generate faceless videos in minutes, I wanted authenticity. I wanted to make a real impact.
That's when SlideSkills became Slides by Sander.
The content became more personal, more opinionated, more focused on how PowerPoint is actually used in professional environments. Less about flashy tricks, more about systems that scale.
Beyond YouTube
As the channel grew, so did the work around it.
I started creating high-quality, professional-grade templates for working professionals. Digital programs helping hundreds of people improve their skills. One-on-one coaching, group workshops, and in-person training sessions. Working directly with professionals and teams changed how I teach and what I prioritize.
That real-world experience now feeds back into everything: the videos, the courses, the templates.
In December 2025, I was awarded Microsoft PowerPoint MVP. A milestone I never planned for, but one that confirms the direction I want to keep pursuing.
What's Next
Slides by Sander is no longer just a YouTube channel.
It's education. Templates. Coaching. A long-term mission around better presentations.
I truly believe impactful presentations can make a difference in this world.
The next chapter is about helping people stay in control: of their slides, their message, their time, their delivery. Especially as AI tools and Copilot become standard, I want people to remain in the driver's seat.
If you've been here from the start, thank you.
If you just joined, welcome.
This is only the beginning.
